According to numerous industry insiders, patterns are back and in a big way. But not just any pattern, it’s herringbone specifically. Why? You could say nostalgia is in. Martha Stewart, the queen bee of all things stylish, has herringbone high on her list of trends. In a recent online article, the herringbone pattern landed at the #8 spot for flooring trends in 2024. MarthaStewart.com wrote, ‘“Herringbone is a classic design element that is coming back into the limelight—with minor changes. The typically horizontal zigs are beginning to zag diagonally or vertically, according to Houzz.” The fresh pattern provides movement and texture to areas like the kitchen and bathroom.”’
Of course, Martha isn’t the only one singing the praises of herringbone. Southern Living, the National Association of Realtors, and Better Homes & Gardens are all in on this trend.
